Pirate Tree Ship

Ever since I saw Dune, by David Lynch in the movie theaters back in 1984, I loved original spaceships as the spacecraft on that movie opened a whole new imaginary for me as a kid. Up until then I thought spaceships had to be made with bolts and metal like in Star Wars or Space 1999, but the spaceships "made of wood" that Dune presented (and the whole look of the movie) had a big impact on my imagination.
So over the years I tried to design plenty of original crafts myself and this one is the latest one I did. It´s a bit based on my very own concept art I did back in 1993-95 when I was the art director for the first Portuguese professionally produced PC-Video Game created in Portugal and at the time i created a lot of set pieces for that world except one of this things, so a couple days ago I just went for it and did this.
For the mood I was trying to go for some sort of Anime feel too, altough I don´t follow anime (which I love but don´t have time to watch series), except for the works of Myiazaki and Makoto Shinkai of which I´m a big fan.
