Created for personal portfolio, done in Photoshop and essentially depicts one of my favorite steampunk themes which is anything based on the whole Jules Verne world. In this case i call this one "Finding Nemo (without the cute fish)" and I had this idea of depicting Nautilus being found at the bottom of the ocean in our days.
This is also a good example of a thing I love to do, which is taking known established concepts and famous stuff from movies or books and give them my own interpretation. In this case I wanted to create my version of Nautilus to see if I could get away from the iconic Disney classic look from the movie 20.000 Leagues Under the Sea directed by Richard Fleisher back in the 50s, which was one of my all time favorites since I saw it as a young kid back in the 70s, where they still runned 50s movies in Portuguese movie theaters and I got to see it several times actually.
So the idea here was just to create my own interpretation of Nautilus and also design an underwater environment because backgrounds and imaginary landascapes are my thing, seascapes in this case.
