OPART PROJECT (Out-Of-Place-Artifact) - The Arrival

One of my favorite SciFi novels is actually the Rama series by Arthur C.Clarke & Gentry Lee, because, my favorite SciFi concept has to do with archeology stories, particularly the ones which are set in epic abandoned lost world starships filled with mysterious places to explore and wonders to discover.
Although my main professional activity is being a children´s book illustrator nowadays, I´ve always wanted to create an illustrated book featuring my own space archeological adventure. The goal was also to create something like a Dinotopia book , but related to a lost starship discovery.
And so... last year I started to doodle some concepts.
After I´ve rewatched the movie Lifeforce once again, I got inspired to create my own archeological space saga finally.
The Lifeforce 1985 movie is always a good source of inspiration for me, because of that beginning where the astronauts find the alien ship in the tail of the comet and so I picked up my Ipad and my Procreate painting software and just went with it.

I have no story yet for this project, and for now, I´m just creating environments and exploring my mysterious alien world starship bit by bit without any planning at all and never knowing where the next concept painting will lead me.

So, this is one example of what I´m doing and I´ll be posting more stuff in the future.

Illustrations were painted in Photoshop by a real human, using traditional concept art techniques. OpenAI was only used to create the fly-by animation takes.
